Butler, Villanova both looking to make a move in Big East

Two teams trying to fight their way up the Big East standings face off on Saturday in Indianapolis as Butler plays host to Villanova. Butler (13-7, 4-5 Big East) took down Georgetown 90-66 on Tuesday night in Washington, D.C. Pierre Brooks II led the way with a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double. DJ Davis and Jahmyl Telfort each dropped 17 points and Jalen Thomas added 11 with five boards. "We found some rhythm on offense and that really ignited our defense," Butler coach Thad Matta said. Villanova (11-8, 4-4) fell 70-50 to St. John's on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden. It marked the first time in 31 years that the Red Storm swept the two-game series against the Wildcats. Villanova was led by Eric Dixon with 16 points and eight boards while TJ Bamba added 12 p…

Lip-reader Evan Brunell is here to once again decipher a collection of manager-umpire fights. Previously, Brunell deciphered all of the arguments from the 2012 season and the first half of the 2013 season. Here now are the fights from the second half of the 2013 season. Miguel Cabrera and Jim Leyland vs. Brian Gorman, September 9 Miguel Cabrera: (OBSCURED)—bullshit. (TOSSED) Oh, no, no, no, man, hey, hey, hey, hey—no no! Our 25 Favorite Sports GIFs Of 2012

GIFs are one of the Internet's most polarizing elements; not only is there debate over the image format's utility (or, as anti-GIFfers argue, lack thereof) but over how to say "GIF" in the first place. (We're choosy moms.) Even GIF haters, though, can't keep themselves away from the sports moments captured in those 40-or-so frames, so here's our favorite sports GIFs of 2012. Yes, Laker Bros is technically our "favorite" GIF of the year, but we didn't make that one. Old Guy Jeter jerkoff Sad Eli Manning Blowjob Kid Uhhhh. Marlins Dad Abandons Son For Ground-Rule Double

There is something about retrieving baseballs that is hard-wired into the psyche of all adult males. Maybe it's a vestige of our hunter-gatherer path, but even the sanest of men can't help but drop everything and goofily run after a $17 ball. It's a poor job by evolution, because sometimes we drop our own spawn. Jorts-clad Marlins Dad fell victim to the allure of Chris Young's ground-rule double during yesterday's game against the Mets. This whole tableau is just wonderful, from the fence ads for cl0wns, a retirement community, and jai alai and poker, to the mom's face and the kid's lack of concern, to the fact that dad didn't even get the ball. Spring training is the best. …

Pundit Tree: Tony Romo's Walk-Off and Joe Buck's Personal Note

data-mm-id=”_qjf7tafo2″>Everyone is desperate to get their slick mitts on Tony Romo. Rumors of $14 million contracts abound. Logic and reason suggest he'll re-up at CBS, where he is very comfortable. But that doesn't mean he wasn't playing for something during the Titans-Chiefs game. Like an athlete in a contract year, Romo had to maintain his high level of excellence. He did just that, putting on a virtuoso performance nearly as impressive as his AFC Championship Game clairvoyance last season. It takes a brave pundit to critique the almighty Romo. It's also worth pointing out that he is, in fact, fallible– just not in exciting, offense-driven games with elite quarterback play. He is so much more comfortable and joyous breaking down what Patrick Mahomes is doing th…

Andre Iguodala Just Looks Bad Refusing to Play for the Grizzlies

data-mm-id=”_yjlfgrxe4″>Andre Iguodala and the Memphis Grizzlies are headed for an ugly breakup. The former Warriors guard has refused to wear a Memphis uniform all year and has demanded a trade to a preferred destination. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies players are happy to see him go.So who is in the wrong? The Grizzlies for trading for someone who didn't want to be there? Or Iguodala, the 15-year veteran making $17 million, who doesn't want to play unless it's for one of the best teams in the league? An ironman early in his career, Iguodala has missed 55 regular season games over the last four seasons while only playing about 25 minutes a game. Last season he shot just 33% from three and certainly didn't do much to slow down Kawhi Leonard as the Warriors lost the Finals…

DeAndre Hopkins: There Was No Relationship With Bill O'Brien

data-mm-id=”_9z5r5nxl8″>DeAndre Hopkins is finally opening up about the trade that sent him from the Houston Texans to the Arizona Cardinals this offseason. The biggest revelation from the interviews he's given is that he had "no relationship" with Texans head coach and general manager Bill O'Brien. When asked by Sports Illustrated's Greg Bishop about the trade, Hopkins said O'Brien called him and was very "businesslike." Then he said this:””There was no relationship. Make sure you put that in there. There’s not a lot to speak about.””O'Brien was Hopkins' head coach in Houston for six years while the receiver turned into one of the NFL's best at the position. He was a star. And somehow the two had no relationship to speak of. That&…

T.J. Warren Has Plantar Fasciitis Because the Indiana Pacers Can't Catch a Break

data-mm-id=”_v15odgfyv”>T.J. Warren has been incredible during the NBA's Orlando bubble. While guys like Devin Booker and Damian Lillard have been on fire, Warren has been the breakout star of the league's restart. Unfortunately, just as soon as he began to rise he's dealing with a nagging foot injury that could cause problems for the Indiana Pacers. Warren sat on Wednesday while his Pacers topped the Houston Rockets 108-104. After the game head coach Nate McMillan revealed Warren has plantar fasciitis, the same injury that has sidelined Domantas Sabonis since mid-July. Sabonis is not expected to contribute much, if at all, for the rest of the season. If Indiana makes a deep playoff run he might contribute but it's unlikely.McMillan says Warren's foot injury is…
